July 2006 - June 2009 - research
Organiser: Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (Greece)

Three-year project addressing the challenges the crisis of multiculturalism brought to the EU and the lack of a common EU intellectual framework to address the issue. The project was divided in five main research phases: First there was the outline of migration in the nine partner countries. Second, the critical review of public debates on integration and multiculturalism. Third, empirical studies about educational challenges posed by migration; about legal challenges related to anti discrimination and about political challenges referring to voting rights and civic participation were carried out. Fourth was the integration of the national case studies and the challenges they brought up. Finally, main value discourse from these countries were brought together to identify a common dimension of integrating diversity and create a European model of multiculturalism.
This project was coordinated by the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (Greece) and developed in Greece, Great Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Latvia, Denmark, Poland.
