REDCo - Religion in Education. A contribution to Dialogue or a factor of Conflict in transforming societies of European Countries

Three-year project with an interest in the contribution of religions and values to dialogue and tensions in Europe. A multidisciplinary research team examined how intercultural dialogue, understanding and mutual respect could be achieved among European citizens of different religious, cultural and political backgrounds in educational institutions.
The impact of religions and religious values on society was explored in order to avoid conflict and exclusion among student in the 14-16-year age group. Both their individual perceptions and teachings about dialogue and conflict situations were observed. This project advocated a European approach to the study of intercultural dialogue.
The project was coordinated by the University of Hamburg and developed in Germany, UK, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Estonia, Russia, Spain.
