1st Platform meeting

24th November 2006,
Brussels, Belgium
- platform meeting

1st PIE meeting 1

Twenty-one organisations met on 24th November to brainstorm on the purpose and functioning of the platform. The platform was welcomed as a useful tool for further cross-sector cooperation in the context of the Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008 and beyond.

Arts and social organisations might lead the way in exchanging practice around equality and diversity at local level. Besides creating opportunity for practical collaboration, the platform will allow for exchange and debate – a legitimate motivation for the platform in itself, according to many participants. Representative structures from organised civil society are likely to remain the key participants in the platform, but a way of including individual organisations with competence and commitment to the platform was in demand as well.
