Influencing policy-making in the European Union through which national, regional and local policies on diversity and intercultural engagement can improve

Intercultural Dialogue is not a distinct policy in the EU. Rather it is a goal and endeavour overarching several policy domains. The main political responsibility for its promotion is located in the cultural policy domain. Intercultural Dialogue also plays a role as an aim in EU education, youth, citizenship and integration policies.

Intercultural Dialogue in the EU is not advanced through legislation, but through funding programmes and the promotion of intergovernmental cooperation.
